Haiti Earthquake

Dear Medical colleague:

NSU-COM is currently working with state and federal agencies in compiling a list of any and all licensed physicians who are willing to participate in medical outreach efforts to assist the people of Haiti.

There are two categories of responders:
1)  those who are willing and able to go immediately and
2)  those who are willing and able to go for the ongoing efforts (i.e. after the first    three months).

Unfortunately, we do not know the length of time these outreach efforts will be, but one to two weeks is a reasonable estimate. We also do not know when or if we will be called to participate in these efforts, but we must be able to mobilize within 24 hours of request.

If you are able and willing to go to Haiti to serve as a medical provider in this tragedy, please respond to Elaine M. Wallace, D.O. (ewallace@nova.edu) immediately.  Please provide your specialty, your cell phone number and any other contact information as well as your availability for service.  Please follow up by mailing a copy of your medical license and passport to Dr. Wallace at the following address:

Currently, no immunizations are necessary to travel to Haiti, but there is a good likelihood that Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid Fever, and Yellow Fever immunizations will eventually be mandated.

American Airlines is currently providing free flights for physicians.  If asked to participate, we will take advantage of this opportunity.

Please note, it is NOT recommended that you go to Haiti alone as attempts to provide service must be co-coordinated and security must be provided to you during your efforts there.

In the interim, please remember the people of Haiti in your thoughts or prayers.
