PUBLICATIONS
The official publication of the Florida Society ACOFP – Florida Society News – contains the latest information on issues specific to osteopathic family physicians in Florida. Published quarterly, this newsletter contains timely scientific articles, updates on the activities of the Florida Society ACOFP, information on member activities, job opportunities and much more.
GOVERNMENTAL AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS
With offices in Tallahassee, the Florida Society ACOFP represents the interests of osteopathic family physicians in Florida through active and diligent representation before the Florida Legislature and various state regulatory agencies. The Florida Society ACOFP supports and opposes legislation in the best interest of our members. The Florida Society ACOFP also represents its members before appropriate regulatory groups, including the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and many others. The Florida Society ACOFP works very closely with the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) on all of these activities, providing support and liaison for their legislative and regulatory efforts as well.
LIAISON ACTIVITIES
The Florida Society ACOFP is very active in the affairs of other professional organizations that have an impact on osteopathic family physicians, including the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, the Florida Academy of Family Practice, the Florida Medical Association and liaisons with other specialty medical groups. The Florida Society ACOFP membership is also organized and involved in working with the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) on various professional issues. Many Florida Society ACOFP members currently serve and have served in leadership roles over the years in both the ACOFP and AOA, assuring that the voice of Florida osteopathic family physicians is heard nationally.
COMMUNICATIONS/WEBSITE
In addition to the Florida Society News, the Florida Society ACOFP provides members with periodic fax and e-mail updates on key issues, public events that effect the profession and other urgent matters of importance to osteopathic family physician. The Florida Society ACOFP also has a dynamic interactive website for use by members and the general public at www.acofp-fl.org. The website allows members to call on the society around the clock to access information on a wide variety of current issues. In addition, many special resources are also available to members-only via a special access area from the website, including membership information, payment history, past CME activities and much more.
Fax broadcast and email broadcast are also used to reach members as issues arise.

The Florida Society ACOFP Membership Directory is designed to help strengthen your network of professional contacts and the exchange of information between members of the society. The directory also provides listings of Florida Society ACOFP leadership and other organizational information. Whiel this list is not available for sale or general publication, this directory of members is available via the society website for use by members and the general public in order to find an osteopathic family physician in their area.

FLORIDA SOCIETY ACOFP ANNUAL CONVENTION
During late July each year, the Florida Society ACOFP holds its annual convention in Orlando. For the 2009 convention on July 29-August 2, the convention will be held at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate. Along with an outstanding educational program presented by a world-renowned faculty and a national audience of osteopathic family physicians and their professional staff, a large number of vendors specializing in family medical practice products and services will be featured during the program. In addition, the social program is second to none, with a host of activities for attendees and their family members. We also recognize leaders in our profession in Florida with a number of prestigious awards. Another new addition and highlight to our annual convention is our Dean’s Challenge Cup, with students from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSUCOM) and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Bradenton Campus (LECOM) competing in a host of exciting events for the right to put the cup on display at their college for the next year.
LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Florida Society ACOFP provides many opportunities for osteopathic family physicians to continue to develop leadership skills. The society has an active leadership and committee structure. The society is always seeking the participation of new leaders to help with various society programs in membership, legislative, continuing medical education and other project topic areas.
